The cut
Round, in detail
-
The cut grade does the work
Round is the only shape given a full cut grade on an IGI or GIA report, because its proportions are standardised. On every other shape cut is judged by eye. That grade is the single biggest lever on how a round performs in real light.
-
It hides colour and clarity best
Brilliant faceting bounces light so actively that small inclusions and faint warmth are far harder to see than in a step cut. You can usually take a lower clarity grade here before anything becomes visible.
-
You are paying for wasted rough
A round discards more of the original crystal than any other shape, which is why it costs more per carat than an equivalent oval or cushion. Buying a little under a round number, 0.95ct rather than 1.00ct, steps around the price jump with no visible difference in size.
Made to order
Yours, in your stone and your metal
Every design on this page is made for you after you order it, which is why you are not limited to the metal in the photograph. Choose the stone and the metal, and our bench does the rest.
