A square step cut with real depth
Cropped corners and concentric rectangular facets create the hall-of-mirrors effect you see looking straight down into an Asscher. It is a quieter, more geometric kind of beauty than a brilliant.

Clarity is unforgiving
As with the emerald cut, the open facets hide nothing. This is not the shape on which to economise on clarity, and it is worth reviewing the plotted inclusions on the certificate rather than the grade alone.

It should read square
The length-to-width ratio wants to sit around 1.00 to 1.05. Much beyond that and the stone stops reading as an Asscher and starts looking like a short emerald cut.
