The cut
Marquise, in detail
-
The most size per carat of any shape
A marquise has the largest face-up area for its weight, which makes it the most efficient shape if visible size is what you are optimising for.
-
Two points, both exposed
Unlike a pear, a marquise has a vulnerable tip at each end. V-prongs on both are essential, and the setting is worth checking more regularly than you would a round.
-
Ratio drives the elegance
Roughly 1.85 to 2.10 is the usual sweet spot. Shorter than that starts to look stubby. Longer becomes thin at the ends and more fragile.

Yours, in your stone and your metal
Every design on this page is made for you after you order it, which is why you are not limited to the metal in the photograph. Choose the stone and the metal, and our bench does the rest.
