The pair. Every size option on this page is the total carat weight of both earrings together, which is how studs are normally sold, so each ear wears half of it. The size-comparison photograph labels the weight of a SINGLE stone, because that is what decides how big one earring looks on your ear. Pick from the dropdown and the photograph will show you the stone you are getting, at half the number.

Threaded posts with screw-on backs, not push backs. The back winds onto the post rather than gripping it by friction, so it cannot be nudged loose by a scarf or a pillow. They take a few seconds longer to put on, which is the trade every jeweller makes for stones you would be sorry to lose.

Sleeping in them is fine and most people do — the screw backs are the reason. For showering, you can, but soap film building up under the stone is what makes studs look dull over months, so a quick wash with warm water and a soft brush every few weeks keeps them bright.
