The piece
About this design
A heart is only a heart if you can see its outline, so the setting here stays out of the way: a V-prong on the point, slim claws on the lobes, and the cleft between them left completely open. The band below is worked in fine filigree curls between two lines of milgrain, and that is what keeps the ring on the right side of the line — the stone is romantic, the metalwork is antique and restrained, so the whole thing reads as a piece of old jewellery rather than a novelty. Inside, the band is smooth, polished and stamped with the Driona D.

Split it down the middle in your head. The two lobes should match, the cleft between them should be sharp and clearly defined, and the outline should be even on both sides. A lopsided heart shows from across a room and no setting can disguise it.
It reads better larger. The outline is the whole point, and at the smaller end of the dropdown a heart starts to look like a rounded stone from a distance. If the shape matters to you, move up the size list — with lab grown, that step costs a fraction of what it would otherwise.
Not on filigree. The curl-work and milgrain give it the weight of an heirloom, and the stone sits low enough to disappear under a sleeve. It is the band that decides whether a heart ring looks grown-up, and this one does.
It is the softest combination we make. Fine curling metalwork and a rounded symmetrical stone belong to the same romantic language — if you want the heart to look tender rather than bold, this is the band for it.
The V-prong prevents it. It caps the tip so anything the ring brushes against meets smooth metal rather than a bare diamond corner.

The centre stone is graded by someone other than us
A lab grown diamond over 1.00 carat goes to IGI — an independent gemological laboratory — and is graded there, and its report ships with the piece. Below that weight the accent stones are not individually certified; nobody in the trade certifies melee. We would rather tell you that here than let you open the box expecting paperwork that was never coming.

Check the report against IGI's own database
If your piece came with a report, type its number into IGI's site. It will show you the same stone, graded on the same date. If it does not match what arrived, you did not get what you paid for — and you have thirty days to send it back.

A lab grown diamond is a diamond: same carbon lattice, same hardness, same fire, and it passes a diamond tester exactly like a mined stone. The only difference is where it formed. You will never find that fact buried in the small print here.
