The piece
About this design
An oval diamond in a beaded bezel sits at the centre of an openwork frame of gold scrolls, with four heart-shaped diamonds placed at the top, bottom and sides. Each heart is bezel set and points outward, so together they form a compass-like outline around the oval. Fine milgrain runs along the edges of the band, finishing the ring in the style of early twentieth-century jewellery.

Milgrain, a line of tiny gold beads along the rim. It softens the outline and is typical of Edwardian rings.
They make the frame read as a flower or compass rose and add a romantic detail without adding height.
The scrolls are solid gold joined to the bezel at several points, so the frame is rigid rather than delicate.
Soak it in warm soapy water and use a soft brush in the scrolls; avoid pulling cloths through the openwork.

The centre stone is graded by someone other than us
A lab grown diamond over 1.00 carat goes to IGI — an independent gemological laboratory — and is graded there, and its report ships with the piece. Below that weight the accent stones are not individually certified; nobody in the trade certifies melee. We would rather tell you that here than let you open the box expecting paperwork that was never coming.

Check the report against IGI's own database
If your piece came with a report, type its number into IGI's site. It will show you the same stone, graded on the same date. If it does not match what arrived, you did not get what you paid for — and you have thirty days to send it back.

A lab grown diamond is a diamond: same carbon lattice, same hardness, same fire, and it passes a diamond tester exactly like a mined stone. The only difference is where it formed. You will never find that fact buried in the small print here.
