About this design
A marquise has two points and the longest, thinnest edge of any diamond shape, which makes it the cut that benefits most from being bezel set. Solid metal runs the entire outline, enclosing both tips and the whole girdle in between. The look is striking and unusually clean — a long gold navette lying down the finger with no prongs breaking the line — and it still does the slimming, lengthening work the shape is famous for.

Because a marquise has two vulnerable points and the longest exposed girdle of any shape. A bezel covers all of it at once, which removes the main practical objection people have to this cut.
Yes. Face-up it has the largest surface area of any cut at a given weight, because the stone is spread long and shallow rather than held deep. Carat for carat it is the biggest-looking diamond you can buy.
It softens them slightly, since metal wraps each tip. Many people prefer that — you keep the elongated navette outline but lose the fragility and the tendency of bare points to catch.

The centre stone is graded by someone other than us
A lab grown diamond over 1.00 carat goes to IGI — an independent gemological laboratory — and is graded there, and its report ships with the piece. Below that weight the accent stones are not individually certified; nobody in the trade certifies melee. We would rather tell you that here than let you open the box expecting paperwork that was never coming.

Check the report against IGI's own database
If your piece came with a report, type its number into IGI's site. It will show you the same stone, graded on the same date. If it does not match what arrived, you did not get what you paid for — and you have thirty days to send it back.

Grown, not mined — and we say so everywhere
A lab grown diamond is a diamond: same carbon lattice, same hardness, same fire, and it passes a diamond tester exactly like a mined stone. The only difference is where it formed. You will never find that fact buried in the small print here.
