The piece
About this design
The marquise covers more finger face-up than any other cut, and it sits high to do it — which leaves a long visible run of setting along each side. That is where the hidden halo goes: a row of small round diamonds following the basket beneath the stone, tapering to each point. Looking down, the ring is still a bare marquise solitaire on a plain band, doing the slimming work that makes the shape famous. Looking from the side, it is lit from underneath.

Yes. Face-up it has the largest surface area of any cut at a given weight, because the stone is spread long and shallow rather than held deep. Carat for carat it is the biggest-looking diamond you can buy.
Because a marquise has more visible setting along its sides than a compact shape does. There is simply more surface for the halo to occupy, so it shows more of the time as the hand moves.
They are the thinnest parts of the stone, which is why both are capped by a prong in this setting. Protected that way, a marquise wears perfectly well day to day.

The centre stone is graded by someone other than us
A lab grown diamond over 1.00 carat goes to IGI — an independent gemological laboratory — and is graded there, and its report ships with the piece. Below that weight the accent stones are not individually certified; nobody in the trade certifies melee. We would rather tell you that here than let you open the box expecting paperwork that was never coming.

Check the report against IGI's own database
If your piece came with a report, type its number into IGI's site. It will show you the same stone, graded on the same date. If it does not match what arrived, you did not get what you paid for — and you have thirty days to send it back.

Grown, not mined — and we say so everywhere
A lab grown diamond is a diamond: same carbon lattice, same hardness, same fire, and it passes a diamond tester exactly like a mined stone. The only difference is where it formed. You will never find that fact buried in the small print here.
