About this design
Bezel setting a heart is the hardest job on this list, because the metal has to follow two curved lobes, a sharp cleft and a point without losing the outline. Done properly, as here, it actually strengthens the shape: a continuous gold line traces the heart the whole way round, so it reads instantly from a distance instead of relying on the eye to join up the gaps between prongs. It also protects the cleft and the point, the two most delicate spots on the stone.

It does. A continuous metal outline traces the whole heart, so the shape reads clearly at a distance instead of relying on the eye to fill in the gaps between prongs. It is the most legible way to set a heart.
Symmetry, entirely. The lobes must mirror each other and the cleft must be sharp and dead centre, or the outline blurs at arm's length. Cutting a heart properly wastes more rough than almost any other shape, which is why good ones stand out.
Completely, and so is the cleft between the lobes. Those are the two most delicate spots on a heart cut, and a bezel is the only setting that shields both at once.

The centre stone is graded by someone other than us
A lab grown diamond over 1.00 carat goes to IGI — an independent gemological laboratory — and is graded there, and its report ships with the piece. Below that weight the accent stones are not individually certified; nobody in the trade certifies melee. We would rather tell you that here than let you open the box expecting paperwork that was never coming.

Check the report against IGI's own database
If your piece came with a report, type its number into IGI's site. It will show you the same stone, graded on the same date. If it does not match what arrived, you did not get what you paid for — and you have thirty days to send it back.
