The piece
About this design
The claws are not plain prongs — each one is sculpted into a leaf tip and they curve up together to form a tulip around the stone, eight of them, so the setting looks like a flower head holding the oval rather than a mechanism gripping it. Below, the band is engraved in relief the entire way round and beaded with milgrain along both edges. Three grams, and it looks like it came out of a case at an estate sale.

One where the claws are shaped and curved so that together they form a flower head around the stone. It is a Victorian and Edwardian idea, and it is the reason this ring looks antique from the side as well as from above.
They cover a little more than four would, but they are fine and they sit at the very edge. What you gain is security on an oval — the shape most likely to rock in a four-claw setting — and a far more interesting profile.
The inside is left smooth and comfortable and carries the Driona D. The engraving is on the outer face and both edges, where you can see it.
It sits a little higher than a plain four-claw setting, because the sculpted claws need room to curve. That extra height is what lets light in under the oval and makes it brighter — but it is a period setting, not a modern cathedral, so it stays comfortably wearable.
One of the best. An oval covers more finger lengthways than a round of the same weight, so it looks generous without looking heavy, and the long axis draws the eye up the finger. On a slim hand it is the most flattering shape here.

The centre stone is graded by someone other than us
A lab grown diamond over 1.00 carat goes to IGI — an independent gemological laboratory — and is graded there, and its report ships with the piece. Below that weight the accent stones are not individually certified; nobody in the trade certifies melee. We would rather tell you that here than let you open the box expecting paperwork that was never coming.

Check the report against IGI's own database
If your piece came with a report, type its number into IGI's site. It will show you the same stone, graded on the same date. If it does not match what arrived, you did not get what you paid for — and you have thirty days to send it back.

Grown, not mined — and we say so everywhere
A lab grown diamond is a diamond: same carbon lattice, same hardness, same fire, and it passes a diamond tester exactly like a mined stone. The only difference is where it formed. You will never find that fact buried in the small print here.
